Get excited Gunners fans because we have officially gotten our first ‘here we go’ of the transfer window.
Fabrizio Romano has reported that Arsenal have agreed a fee with Chelsea that will see Kai Havertz become an Arsenal player.
Romano announced that the deal consists of a £60m pound fee, plus £5m in add-ons.
Fabrizio Romano was all over this transfer ever it since the project first began to bring Havertz to the Emirates. Despite interest from top Bundesliga teams, the German made it known that he only wanted to go to Arsenal, with personal terms being agreed 10 days ago.
After lighting it up with Leverkusen in the Bundesliga, a 21-year-old Havertz signed for Chelsea with the world at his feet but struggled to find form, leading to the Blues off-loading him before the upcoming season in order to restructure their team.
Arteta believes that he can help Kai regain his previous form by bringing him to the Emirates. Due to Havertz’s experience in a range of positions across the midfield and attack, Arteta has hinted that the new signing can play a similar role to Trossard. This will see Kai being used anywhere throughout the Gunners’ new interchangeable forward line, whilst also being able to drop into the role of a 10 (CAM) or even an 8 (CM).
£65m seems like a steep price given his form at Chelsea but one thing we have learnt in the past is to trust Edu and Arteta with their transfers.
