Mikel Arteta has flipped Eddie Nketiah’s contract situation on its head.
The Hale End graduate appeared to have a foot out of the door throughout the 2021/22 season, having failed to properly break into the first team in the Premier League.
The 22-year-old rejected previous contract offerings from the club whilst being linked with multiple other Premier League clubs.
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has now seemingly convinced the Englishman to stay at the club, following an upturn in form towards the end of the season. The striker netted 5 times in 7 starts, including a brace against third place Chelsea.
“You know that you have a player there that is going to help you,” says Arteta. “It’s been decided [his contract]”.
Nketiah, who’s contract was set to run out at the end of the season, will become the second player this post-season to put pen to paper for the Gunners.
Egyptian midfielder Mohammed Elneny signed a one year (with an option of an extra year) extension a day ago.

I don’t mind the resigning but at the same time, surely these aren’t the guys you want in your team if your looking to break Into the top 4 and then some. Dunno just seems a little lacklustre. Ofc if they are rotation players that’s ok but aim for the stars.
